Auckland is sporting a healthy >18<26 degrees Celsius today, with light winds and loads of fun in the sun.

By the time we reach Auckland it will be late summer/autumn down there, but still a lot warmer than here in Oslo. It’s switched around in NZ, so the northernmost places are the warmest with the North Island (Te Ika-a-Maui/The Fish of Maui) having tropic landscapes and the South Island (Te Waka a Maui/The canoe of Maui) looking more like Norway, with fjords and mountains. (Generally speaking, there’s a lot more to both islands than this, and the landscapes will, of course, vary depending on how far north/south you are.

If you can’t be asked to view the picture in my previous post (Planning the trip), here’s a list of hot spots we are planning to visit.

North Island: Auckland, Matamata, Rotorua, Hamilton, Taihape, Wellington
South Island: Marlborough, Hokitika, Arthur’s Pass, Christchurch, Akaroa, Queenstown

Temperaturen i Auckland ligger i dag på min:18/max:26 grader Celsius, med lett bris og mye fæstligheta.

Innen vi har nådd Auckland vil det ha rukket å bli sensommer/høst der nede, men fortsatt varmere (og mindre slaps!) enn det er her i Oslo.

Husk at det er bakvendtland der nede i NZ, så de nordre strøkene er de varmeste med tropiske strøk på Nordøya (Te Ika-a-Maui/The Fish of Maui) og litt mer ”norske” strøk, med fjorder og fjell på Sørøya (Te Waka a Maui/The canoe of Maui). (Vi snakker selvfølgelig ganske generelt her, det avhenger av hvor langt nord/sør på de respektive øyene du befinner deg hvor tropisk/”norsk” det er).

For de som ikke gidder å lese det forrige innlegget mitt (Planning the trip), så har jeg laget en liten liste over ”hot spots” vi planlegger å besøke:
