The Skyline Luge and kiwispotting

AK: Today has been another eventful day. We got to check two things “off our list”: The Skyline Luge and the Kiwispotting. We tried to catch the 10 o’clock tour at the “Kiwi Encounter“, but like the pros we are, we missed it, so we went to the Skyline Gondola and Luge first instead.

The Luge was something I’d seen online and I really wanted to try, basically it’s like the Norwegian “Korketrekkern” without the snow. You get in a small three-wheeled vehicle and set off down the hill. There are three lanes (scenic, intermediate and advanced) and we did them all. Awesome fun! The gondola trip up was sweet as…

After eating the summer’s FIRST ICE CREAM and spending way too much money in the gift shop, we went on to see the kiwis. The tour was one of the best ever. The guide was really good, he knew so much and was so funny he kept cracking us up. (“If you meet any possums on your way, feel free to introduce them to the tyres on your car”)

After spending way too much money in this gift shop too, we headed back to the Funky Green (hostel). We are currently waiting for Astrid to get off work so we can go eat

AK: Det har vært enda en morsom dag. Vi har krysset av to ting på “sjekklisten”: The Skyline Luge og Kiwispotting. Vi prøvde å rekke omvisningen på “The Kiwi Encounter” klokka 10.00, men som de treige individene vi er kom vi for sent til den. Vi bestemte oss for å dra til “The Skyline Gondola and Luge” først. Jeg hadde lest om denne på nett før vi dro og var inmari keen på å prøve den. Den er nesten som Korketrekkern, bare uten snø. Du setter deg i et lite kjøretøy med tre hjul og ruller nedover banen. Det er tre baner (scenic, intermediate og advanced) og vi prøvde alle tre. Utrolig artig! Gondolturen opp og ned var også nydelig.

Etter å ha spist SOMMERENS FØRSTE ISKREM brukte vi (jeg) altfor mye penger i gavebutikken før vi stakk for å se kiwifuglene. Omvisningen var en av de beste jeg har vært på. Guiden var kunnskapsrik og morsom, han fikk oss stadig til å bryte ut i latter med setninger som “If you meet any possums on your way, feel free to introduce them to the tyres on your car”.

Etter å ha brukt altfor mye penger i denne souvenirbutikken også, stakk vi tilbake til the Funky Green (herberget). Akkurat nå venter vi på at Astrid skal bli ferdig på jobb så vi kan gå og spise
